Hi to all you new members. I'm Roma, also known as Ro-Ro, Romaxnana, or simply Ro. I'm here to help you better understand the logistics of role-playing if you don't already know them. Other than the usual common respect, courtesy, and grammar, this is what you need to know.
First Off
The Basics
So, there are many things that go into Role-playing but here are the basics.
.Format
.God Modding
.Thread Hoping.
.Character Deaths.
Here. I'll explain each.
Format
Format is the basic structure of a post. Some Role-players are different. But there is usually the universal two. One is where the role-player's reply consists of asterisks that surround the action of the character. Two is where quotations surround the speech of the character, leaving the actions open, as if you were reading a book.
Here is an example of both.
Example of Format One
You can't take the camera, I need it for my work! *She yelled before yanking the camera from her sisters hands.*
Note that some role-players will highlight their characters dialogue like this:
You can't take the camera, I need it for my work! *She yelled before yanking the camera from her sisters hands.*
The decision to do this is entirely your own, unless specified.
Example Two Format.
"You can't take the camera, I need it for work!" she yelled before yanking the camera from her sisters hands.
Note that it reads just like a book? Both options are fine when role-playing, though threads, the longer, more detailed role-plays, usually prefer example two.
God Modding
A typical issue of role plays. God Modding is when one role-player uses any means to win in battle, or controls another persons characters. Many will let the first offence slip, but continued God Modding could result in being banned.
Ultimate Dodging falls under this category.
ZC: I love abusing my admin rights to edit people's posts. Anyways, in case you don't understand the term, Ultimate Dodging is defined as just that, dodging every attack that comes at you. Feel free to edit this Roma.
Thread Hopping.
Thread hopping easy enough to understand. It is having your character in two places at once, in the same RP. It leaves a messy situation around and can become a hassle. So, it is better off just to not do it. It is handled the same way as God Modding.
Character Deaths
Character Deaths are tricky. If your character dies. That's it. No extra lives. No do-overs. No rewinds.
They
Are
Dead
Period.
Unless specified by a mod of an RP, your character stays in the grave. If your character is going to kill another character, make sure it is okay with the role-player first. Common courtesy.

That is it for the basics! If you need any help, simply reply with your question and someone will reply; usually a Mod, Admi, or experienced rp-er.
